The Next time Australians will be trying to break their world record of the maximum test wins they would honestly make sure they wouldn’t be pitting against India. Ricky Ponting and his team at the end of the day would just be pondering about what did they get wrong or was it India who were really ripping it off. Whatever anyone might just think about this test match this is surely going to be etched as one of the most unforgettable tests ever played in the game’s history for reasons more than one. It will be remembered for the amount of hype that was generated before the match, first the unleashing of Shaun Tait, and then the legends about the Perth pitch and then the sure grit with which the Indians fought back after trailing 0-2 in the series which was never done by any other team, for that ominous spell by Ishant Sharma to Ponting which was hailed as one of the best spells ever and the littany of controversies that haunted the team through out the series, last but not the least this match would be forever remembered for the way the team mates rallied around each other. This win didn’t happen due to a Sachin’s ton nor did it because of a Kumble’s half a dozen it happened because the team played as an entity, it happened because the team believed in themselves and believed in each others strengths. Last but not the least it did happen because of the sort of leadership our guys were under. Having lost to India, Australia might just have many questions to ask itself. Kumble is already riding a high following the decision to let go Hogg and now follow that up with this one, a feat which made many records to tumble one of them being as the first team from the sub-continent to beat Australia at the WACA. But then, the decisions taking by Kumble and the inputs from the seniors of the ilk of Sehwag all falling in the right place helped India to script this most famous win. And then the Ek Aur Dalega thing from Kumble after being prompted by Sehwag would just be etched in the memoirs at least till the time India wins again. Guess the guys are taking the synecdoche quite seriously. Don’t you think so? At least I think so!!!
