I was just trying to wade myself through the gazillions of mails that I got stuck into this article on the Earth Hour and for once I thought “Wait a minute, heard about the umpteen number of days that many of these guys come up and now what precisely was this earth hour”.
Earth Hour began last year in Sydney, Australia, as a way to get an entire city to help do something about climate change. A symbolic act, it nevertheless managed to cut individual energy use by a fraction as people across the city shut off the lights.
And now that it’s permeated itself the movement is trying to gain its voice across the world by making people from all over the world to participate. All that everyone’s gotta do is just switch off their lights on March 29th for an hour from 8:00 – 9:00. This is in the wake to protect our earth and also to create an ambience where in we can ‘ve a lucid view of the sky which is a sort of an objet trouve in these days.
Everyone have been quite voluble in advocating their own methods of creating a green earth. Notwithstanding that this is a much better awareness campaign at least on paper and the results are yet to come out. But it ‘d be better if such hours are taken quite frequently rather than once an year so that we can provide a platform where in even an aam aadmi like me can partcipate.
