Today well is 3.14.08, if we take the first three digits it would quite inadvertently dig us into the most loved constant ∏ at least I love this constant for I try to associate this to most of the numbers that I see every day. I try to find the relation and that’s really sort of envisaging. Guess so!
This day just got into being to get children interested in Mathematics and was incepted by Larry Shaw in 1988. As the sound of the constant is something synonymous to the eatable pie this was pretty good an idea to create some interest in children. The first celebration was nothing more than a circular walk around the main hall of the museum ending at a big table of pies. That walk was used to illustrate the ratio that pi represents: the circumference of a circle divided by its diameter.
It is also called the Archimedes or Ludolph’s constant.
